BSA bolt rifles

A buddy of mine has one I might be interested in but cant find a model number anywhere on it other than a C in front of the serial number, is there a special place to look for some model designation or some way to identify them. His is in 7x57

If any of you BSA fan boys are interested I have a CF2 action and trigger, no bolt or lower hardware. It came in a big box of mauser actions I bought at a gun show years ago, never came across any parts for it. I've never owned and BSR rifles but shot a few and they are good, don't see many kicking around now though.

My 1950s Beezer 7X57 wears a Leupold 1.5 to 5, but I mounted an old Lyman 57 peep as backup for appalling weather or in case the scope gets damaged on a hunt. The peep sights' slide is set, then slid out using the quick release button so it doesn't interfere with the low mounted scope. If I need it the scope comes off in seconds and the peep slide goes back in to it's pre-set position. I like peeps, but around here they're a bit of a novelty. Most of the folks in these parts grew up with buckhorn sights and few have even tried peeps. I learned to shoot in the army cadets many years ago on old Smellies and Brens, so peeps seemed like the way things should be to me.
I love the old, steel Lyman and Redfield peeps which seem to last forever. They're beautifully made, classy looking and they work. Just hard to find these days.

Buster; Very nice. I think that stock was the US export version. My 7X57 Ackley is the same action but the stock has the schnable forend with I understood to be the Euro version.
From recent reading about these rifles I think the 'Hunter' label only pertained to the original short action Hornets and .222s. The med. actions like yours and mine seems to be referred to as the 'Viscount', and the long action ( '06 etc.) the 'Imperial'.
I think that series were only made until about '59.
If knew anyone under 12 who could show me how to post pictures on this site I'd show you my Ackley, but I'm too dim to work it out. Confuser instructions make my eyes glaze over.

I have several BSA rifles as well...........I believe they are all CF-2, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong........I'm no expert on BSAs

The streamlined back end of the bolt is a CF-2 tell-tale. The full-length stock is the "Stutzen" model, as far as I know the CF-2 is the only BSA that had that variant.

Hi all
I have a cf2 in 6.5 x 55 , quite a rare caliber I believe with only 1703 ever made for a Scandinavian contract . I have requested my wife to bury me with it .

My brother inherited a BSA from my grandfather in 243. It was his safe queen and is mint. I'm not sure of the model but it is quite accurate. Needless to say I was quite jealous.

Tradex had a decent one for $500 couple months ago, sat for a month or more before someone bought it.

Some of these BSA rifles look very nice. One I always thought I might like is the featherweight version with the built in muzzle brake and the schnable forend.
Does anyone here have one that they could post a photo of ? Would like to see one up close !!
