I have a chance to buy what I think through surfing the net,,is BSA 303 it has a sporter stock. no sites on the barrel. There is no drop out magazine like most enfields. It is differnt then any the Lee's I have seen. I wish I had a picture. Can anyone add anthing from my vague description

its a once piece stock, as far as the mag it is not like any other enfield I have seen. It looks like a mauser type. There is a small block on the side of the reciever which resembles a mauser bolt release. This gun has a shim under a spring in this block. If you remove the ship it won't eject.

Are you sure it doesn't have a 5 round mag? Some 10 rounders were trimmed to fit flush with the rifle. I have a crude one that came with my SMLE sporter. You might be looking at a p14. Does it look like this?

I got in trouble for linking to a non-sponsor site already, so you will have to delete the space after the slashes.

OK lets figure this out here is a picture the top rifle is a bubba'd US M1917, AKA P17 which for all intents of purpose looks practically identical to a P14 which are frequently referred to as American Enfields. They are more closely related to Mausers than Lee Enfields, but the original design (the P14) was developed in Enfield thus the name. The bottom rifle is a classic Lee Enfield Lithgow SMLE. Which does said rifle more closely resemble?

*edit: and yes the sight guard on the Lithgow is backwards in this pic, that's the way it was when I purchased the rifles and snapped these pics as soon as I got them home. It was promptly corrected long ago.
