Trying to help a friend out with the model number of this older BSA target .22LR. I think it is a model 13 or 8, but wanted to see if someone who knows BSA's could help. I say model 13 or model 8 from the info on this site;

Here is the actual firearm;

It has a 29" heavy barrel. Any thoughts? Also, if you have any thoughts as to value, that would be appreciated.

I believe it's a model 12- the models 13 & 8 have a 25.5' bbl
I know the model 13 lists a 25 inch barrel as standard, but it also notes "Several barrel weight options came available over the years". If it was a model 12, it also looks like the barrel may have been swapped out as this one lacks the standard rear sight mechanism half way along the barrel (opposed to the mounted aperture sight).

I like this line in one of the webpages;

"Also, most auctioneers are unwilling to state the Model number, with good reason - models are confusing in appearance, often modified or updated, and identification is therefore not at all easy - thus a serial number cannot always be attributed to a Model 12; only the fact that it was doubtlessly the model with the greatest production is an indication that the highest numbers are Model 12 rifles."

I guess my confusion is well founded. Will keep looking, thanks.
