BSA Majestic Featherweight

I just bought a older BSA .243 and it shoots awesome! it'll be in my safe for a long time to come, its a mint rifle and I bought it from a fellow Gun Nut ....these rifles are hard to find in mint shape.

Here is a pic of an original add for the first models of BSA Sporter rifles from the late 50's. (Not to be confused with the sporterized military rifles the company also sold after WW2)

The push feed Monarch and CF2 came later in an effort to reduce costs but in the end they couldn't compete against the mass-produced "threaded tubes" the competition was aggressively marketing (the same pressures that caused Winchester to re-design the M70) . That coupled with a growing "anti-gun" society in England pretty well sealed the fate for BSA cartridge firearms. As a crowning insult to the firearms section of the business at BSA the board of directors ordered most production records destroyed.

That imperial looks pretty much the same as my Majestic... Though the bolt looks a bit different. .but can't really see from the pic.. anything else different between the two??

Beautiful weapon Boo!!

i guess mine is the sporterized military rifle you mentioned.
i can not complain about an old 30.06 that shoots 3 rounds @ 100 yds making 1.5 holes now can i.(providing it has a good rest)
What can you tell me about my rifle, are they any good?

There is a BSA cf-2 7mm mag for sale on here .They are supposed to be around 8lbs. Q. would this be the same mauser type action as the majestic and imperial? would this be a worthwhile project gun to get fluted ,refinished and re-stocked?

There was a 6.5 swede cf2 for sale with a full stock in North London last year. I was sorely tempted!

Boo, does your gun have featherweight stamped on it? I am trying to sort out what models are out there. One source says there are 4 models of the majestic, they are- the Viscount, the Imperial, the featherweight and the Regent.I will post a good link to an extensive list of all BSA models.
