BSA model 15 project... Success!!

Congratulations on a fine job. That is a beautiful gun.

What do you mean by "loading height adjusted"?

When i got this gun the loading ramp wouldnt drop enough to load a round without binding in the chamber so you had to hold the lever forward. On the advice of someone who i believe is a retired gunmaker for BSA on rimfire central, i removed a slight bit of material from the lever web to adjust it and it now feeds flawlessly.

Beautiful rifle. OP, do you have any overall pics to show off?

Mark

The sun was running low but i got a couple good pics today! :D
In this first pic you can actually see on the receiver the bluish hue that i got with the bluing. Im still working on the steel buttplate, but my grinder's in pieces on my bench at the moment...

Not bad looking for a gun made in 1931 right?, AND it's an absolute tack driver!!

Wow, unbeleivable job, well done. Very nice martini. I am looking to do my steven favorite, its in .32rf with the rust blueing.

How long did the rust bluing take you?

Dave

The rust blue took me 3 days and nights. 3 cycles day one, 2 on day 2, and 2 on the last day for a total of 7 cycles. Not that hard to do but requires you to check in on it periodically over several days. And the results are truely awsome if i do say so myself!

did you use the same bluing compound as in the video?

where did you buy it?

I used "laurel mtn forge barel brown and degreaser", from brownells. it's the only browning/rust blue product they export to Canada, but it works very well and is more user friendly than the alternatives. The process is the same as in the video though.

I have a Model 8 that may get some attention in the near future but is in such nice condition I just oil the old girl and go shooting. A delightful gun to shoot-my most fun gun period. And a tack driver too. Love them Martini actions.
Nice job-looks brand new or better. Enjoy.

.32rf ammo is a scrounge only affair now. Best bet gun shows, go look for the people that have ammo boxes out, the guys with the glass cases will charge you an arm and a leg. Hijack complete.

Mike - reason I resurrected this thread is I have been able to finally get a bsa cadet #12 off the EE, so long wanted one of these and made me want one even more seeing yours.

Do you have any recommendations on tear down, what to look for, what can be wrong with them, what not to do?
