Bsa p17...

Hi all,

A friend of mine has a BSA P17 rifle and is wondering if there was ever a detachable magazine conversion kit for it? Or, for that matter, if anyone has done a conversion on their own, and how it was done.

There's a really good one on the cover of a book called The Dance of Shive, but none IRL that I've ever seen. Would be fun to build, but why bother? Lovely rifle just the way it is.

I assume you meant a sporterized M1917 done by BSA? Or is that a BSA model I don't know about??? Not anywhere near being an expert on their products.

Eddystone,Winchester & Remington were all the manufacturers I thought.

BSA hacked them into sporters. Good rifles tho. I have never seen a detachable mag conversion for them.

Well - You can try "jigging" the Tradex 98 conversion.

Thanks fellas. I think I will suggest to him that he leave it as original.
He asked me if I would be willing to try putting a hinge of some kind on the trap door, with a spring-loaded catch to secure it.
I really don't think my skills are up to something like that
