BSA Rifle Replacement Stock... rifle from late 1950's PHOTOS UP

If you could give us the serial number, I could tell you exactly what model your rifle is and the years of manufacture. Wont help with the repair, but it may help you track down another stock......maybe. From your pictures that stock can be repaired by a decent gunsmith or stock maker.

Hi, I have a BSA rifle from the late 1950's. It has developed a crack at the tang, extending from the rear recoil lug about an inch and 1/4.

Does anyone know of Replacement stocks for this rifle?

Would using some glue and a Vise be sufficient to fix the crack?

The Action 7.75 inches long. Spacing between action screws is 7.25 inches.

Thanks in advance

Your rifle is an exact match to my son's BSA Royal fearther weight , his is in 257 Roberts.
Cat

That is not a featherweight as the action is not milled on the left side.

It is the featherweight, I have the exact same rifle, sans the claw extractor. I thought that is was the Monarch, however I retract and believe that Iron Cat is correct, the "Royal."

BSA built the Hunter/Royal Line (Same rifle, different market) in both regular weight and featherlight versions. The featherweights have a large amount of milling on the receiver and interior of the bolt knob to loose about 6 or 7 ounces of weight. Additionally the featherweights have wood removed from within the butt and interior forearm again to reduce weight.

BSA built this line with controlled round feed during the 1950's starting with a short action in the early fifties and moved on to the medium and large actions ending in 1959. The early short actions had no gas control in the event of a pierced primer something remedied by the time the long action went into production. All told this model in it's 3 action sizes were chambered for .222 up to .458 Win Mag.
