I was browsing my local Basspro and I was looking t the BSA Scopes. They're pretty resonable in terms of price and I found one with an illuminated dot that I like. Now are they any good? or should I spend an extra little-bit for a different brand?

I'm planning on using it on my .303 and later on when I buy a .30-06 or .308

Thanks

All the topic's I've seen about BSA scopes say they are junk. About 5 years ago, a friend was going to Cabela's in north Dakota (I think) anyways, I asked him to pick me up a BSA 3-9x50.( deerhunter), cost was $40.00. I mounted in on a model 70 in 30-06. So far i've shot 5-6 whitetails and 2 moose, couple of coyotes with this setup. I've likely put 40-50 rounds thru this rifle/scope combo with no problems. As starpuss says, I won't be buying another. Maybe the older models were built better.

i sold 7 of them , and most of them came back befor the warranty was over....

i had

BSA 3-9x40 (OEM)

BSA = junk.

Go and buy a Bushnell 3200 3-9x40 or 3-10x40 for $299

and it will last you for ever.(clarity is excellent, Rain guard is included. and will hold the Zero shot after shot)

Dante in Mtl got some more of the Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9X40 #42-3944M for 277.00 $ (in last December).

The Bushnell trophy in a 3-9x 40 retail at around $110.00, what rifle are you putting it on? FS

Well I'm putting it on an Enfield .303 mounted on an S&K instamount. In a few years I want to buy a really nice 30-06/.308 but in the meantime the 303 will suite my needs.

I checked out the Nikons at the local gun store and they were quite nice for the price but they had a used fixed power Leupold for a bit more cash that had so much better clarity. One look made me a believer and I plan to get a fixed power gold ring FX2 4x33 once I have some cash. The are marked at 359$ in the Russels catalog and even the used ones have a lifetime warranty.

I like fixed power scopes. They ar simple and sturdy.
