i was looking into the bsa optic line for a .17 or 223 . was wondering if any one had any thought on em ?

I have a BSA that came with a very beautiful rifle. I tried it. The parrallax adjustment didn't actually adjust parrallax at all, the glass wasn't very good and the repeatability was extremely suspect.

I took it off my rifle. The thing is so bad I'd feel guilty giving it away. I'm thinking of trying the Hathcock shoot through the scope shot to this POS scope.

I have one of the older models on my 30-06. It's a 3-9x50. Must be 5-6 years old now. Never had a problem (touch wood). Just from what other shooter's say, I wouldn't buy a new one. I think I paid around $60.00 at Cabela's USA.

BSA, like all makes of scopes have different models and levels of performance. To just write off the whole line because you had a buddy who had problems with one is rather short sighted. BSA is well supported in Canada and the importer/distributors look after any problems we have (this is done in Canada and not some far away land). There are several new models coming out from BSA with better optics and features. BSA is owned by the corporation that owns GAMO and has invested quite a bit in product development and marketing. The BSA line in my opinion would compare with Bushnell Banner and Trophy lines. They also offer features like specific models for calibers (and extra target knobs in various bullet weights in the box). The biggest problems we have found are small debris inside a couple of scopes. These were replaced without issue. Phil.

I'm a firm believer that you get what you paid for!

I agree completly...cheap optics get entry level perfomance while expensive optics get premium performance (in most cases). If you are restricted by a budget then buy the best product for your performance requirement but don't expect entry level products to perform well under harsh conditions or heavy calibers. Most BSA products we sell are intended for rimfire or lower caliber (.223, 22-250, 243 ect.) and the prices reflect that. Also consider the warranty available for the brands you are looking at. Phil.
