With all those mixed results of the ARMS18(new version-full rail), has anyone dared to bubba it by grinding it out to retro the original(with or without the clip guide-in this case, doesn't matter)?

Don't know of anyone who has done that with an ARMS #18 mount. But I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Any machine shop should be able to do a nice job on it.Personally iwouldn't just "grind" it out............;)

Dremel tool, anyone?

No no...personally I would be a tad picky to grind up several hundred in a mount. Unless it seemed problematic, I wouldn't be urging to machine it out either. Just curious if anyone has sought this solution rather than selling it and dropping the next wad of cash on a SEI...albeit, also sweet.

There was someone on the M14 forum that had theirs machined to the original type with the charger machined in. That was quite some time ago so I don't know if the pic or thread is still available.

If I had the $ to burn, or still had a newer style mount....I think I would try and mill a steeper angle in the ejection port surface. I don't think cutting it like the origional would actually be needed.

This is something else I was thinking...don't know if anyone has. Simply grinding a wider angle will certainly help..and prevent the old style scope bashing with the open end.

It's not that big a job.

We did a couple of them for some .mil guys. Took care of the problems they were having.

Sweet. Maybe I'll have to find an ARMS18...Smith and Sadlaks are nice two but that ARMS low profile is neat
