Bubba came by and he brought a blowtorch...

How did you find top dead center on the barrel? Did you simply eyeball it, or some combination of holding fixtures? I have a cut plain barrel I wanna drill and tap for a raised bead. I'm thinking about just designing and printing some sort of jig.

I taped and ran a thin string line from the center of the top receiver flat area to the center of the threaded choke adapter till it lined up visually centred, was a bit of measuring and a bit of eyeballing and shouldering. The choke adapter has some relief cuts machined into it and I’m pretty sure one of the ribs was already at top center where it was screwed up tight.

Once I had it lined up where I wanted it I made some marks with a grease pencil and drew a dotted center line down the barrel, that made it easier to line up and mark out where the front and rear bases would sit.
That looks great! One question, why did you not place the rear sight further back on the barrel? It appears as though there is room...

I was looking at pics of factory Rem 14” rifle sighted barrels and just matched where the rear sight was as close as I could, I wanted the rear sight that is adjustable to be as close to the middle of the ramp as possible. The middle of the rear sight base was overtop of the back edge of the forend when it was fully forward, iirc the front sight ramp and blade height I used was the same height as the factory front rifle sight on my 20” turkey barrel.

It didn’t need to be moved much when I sighted it in and I have lots of adjustment forward or backward on the ramp, so it worked out perfectly.

I used the pics in this thread to figure out where the rear sight should be, all of them are factory rifle sighted barrels.

I’m just below the halfway mark on the rear ramp, it puts birdshot patterns where I want them within grouse ranges 10-30m and slugs poa/poi at 50m.
