Thought Id show off some pics of what Im working on, been playing with carbon fiber, or for this specifically its a carbon/nylon mix. Cut down an enfield to legal length, it was a boring sporter, modified the wood stock to be full length, found a nose cap and a broken bayonet knife which I changed the shape a bit to work a bit more functionally as a knife. Second mag in butt stock, the black cheek riser was necessary to be able to remove the bolt with the butt stock attached and have eye line at proper height.

I know right. I can see how it is a bit of bastardized version, it was a common sporter and pretty plain Jane. With the scout scope it will mount to the front of the rail in a typical scout format and be clear as well but allows easy access to the chamber. The rings are quick release so easy enough to swap front to back.

I still need to figure a rear site for it, maybe on the bridge, I’ll scratch something up out of aluminum, it’s already drilled and tapped there anyways.

Edit: I’ll check out the link on Instagram, don’t want to bump my own thread too much so I did an edit

Wow!! "tinkering" to the extreme and I love it. the end product or items used might not be my cup-o-tea but the end product is your end product, and I'm all for that sort of stuff.

Thanks gents. I just wanted to make something that could take a beating. With the two mags full and the bayo knife that can still be attached it was kind of built as a “survival knife” type, but the weight is a bit over the top. Kind of contemplating building a nose cap out of aluminum and drilling some out of the front site bridge to get the weight down a bit.

Starting to like working with CF, and am thinking about another stock project. Wish I had a savage lightweight storm or another 788 I could get the barrel fluted and build a stock for.

My view has always been, If milsurp arent collector worthy absolutely make them into whatever you want! This is such a cool unique gun!

I'd have to call that project "Tacti-Funk-Cool". Neat project fer sure! I've always loved look of the full wood No 1 Mk III"s, especially the
shortened, 20" barreled units that were made up in Britain during WWII.

I think you are an evil genius.

You must be left handed but I like the swivel mounts. It must kick like a mule. is the balance off from having a lightweight CF stock? What is the scout mount rail? an Ashley Outdoors XS type ? Keep them coming that's for sure. this just made my day.

You’ll like the other one I’m building if you like this.

You nailed it as to being a lefty, putty fart smella.

Haven’t shot it yet since the stock mods, still need a butt pad, need to find a sandal for that. I think it will shoot comfortably being 9 lbs. the nose piece scope and extra mags certainly add up in weight. I may or may not try and build a copy of the nose piece out of aluminum one day and lighten a couple other things to try and get the weight somewhere in the 8 lb range scoped.

The rail is just a universal rail, I sanded and filed down the front till it could be wedged in the site bridge, used a small sanding wheel with die grinder to contour the front, files an extra screw pointy and dropped in the tapped holes in the receiver to tap the rail down to Mark hole locations and then drilled the back of the rail. I still should put some epoxy under the back to fit it but it’s snug.

I wouldn’t say the weight is off, it may be a pinch nose heavy but it’s a heavy rifle and I find they steady relatively well. the CF is over laminate at rear and walnut at front but Mostly it is there for strength, the front top piece is so much more ridgid than when it was just walnut, and the wide front stock feels like if you ever had to wield a stock like an axe for defense, this would be ideal.
