Recently saw a Beretta o/u that had its barrels cut back to about 22". Hadn't even bothered to fill in the gaps.

Bubba doesn't discriminate. He'll butcher anything.

A few years back at a gun show I spotted several classic American sxs from a distance. I immediately made tracks to the table to see what else was there. My excitment was heightened by the wad of bills in my wallet. It was shotgun buying time!

My heart sank as I arrived at the table. There was an Ithaca Flues, an LC Smith, a Fox Sterlingworth and a couple of others. All had formerly been owned by cowboy action shooters and cut down to coach gun length. Damn near tossed my breakfast on the spot.

Oddly enough I'd be more likely to buy a chopped top-end English best gun if the price were right (and I mean REALLY right) and then ship it back to old Blighty to have the barrels sleeved.

If the value of that operation and the original purchase price were less than an amount I felt I could eventually sell the gun it would be a tempting project.

But it isn't something I would consider for an older American sxs.
