Bubba'd BSA Enfield Help

I've acquired this BSA Enfield from my father, he bought it years ago from someone who had no use for it, and cosequently little info on it. The only markings that I'm not sure about are a 79 and a GA on either side of an arrow pointing towards the barrel. 79↑GA. I believe it was refurbed in 1953, there are obviously other markings, but through some quick research I believe they pertain to the original rifle, not this version. Anyway if this sporterizing job looks familiar to anyone I would appreciate any info. I have more pictures if needed.

One piece stock...according to Wayne van Zwoll in 'Bolt Action Rifles' that is a hell of a lot of work.

Nothing wrong with it, I love it, just wondering if this is a professional job or more likely a one off. It does appear to be alot of work, there's a few spots where it has been machined and welded. Only thing that bothers me is the barrel isn't free floated, but it still shoots better than I can.
 
woah. thats a lot of work there, I've only seen a few recievers that have been modified for a one peice stock.

How about a few more pictures, some close ups of the work done on the reciever.

Loks like its based on a No1 reciever
 
Ellwood Epps did those type of conversions years ago - lots of work required to convert from a two piece stock to a single stock.
It looks very similar to one I saw about 5 years ago in a gunshop. Nice gun - it would look even nicer with a 5 rd mag. Come to think of it, it would look even nicer in my gun cabinet!

This is a very instructive thread.

Thanks for the thorough pictorial MCK. Someone went through some trouble to end up with that configuration.
