I got an Remington 1100 magnum 3" chamber in trade that I'm having some trouble with. Basically it's a jam-o-matic. After much inspection I finally determined that the carrier jams up against the Interceptor Latch. Both look to be slightly bent, enough to catch each other when the action cycles.
On further inspection I found this barrel has two gas ports. Everything I googled tells me that the 3" barrel has one gas port, the 2 3/4" barrel has two. Was a second gas port drilled into this barrel so it would cycle light trap loads? Would being overgassed cause too much force on the action and cause the carrier and interceptor latch to bend?
I've attached a pic of the gas ports in the barrel. Do you think that one of them is been drilled by a previous owner or are these factory? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
