"It all began with the 110 Folding Hunter. The 110 could be found on many sailors' belts in the Navy. A couple of sailors got into a fight one day, and the 110 Folding Hunter was used. As a result, the captain issued a decree that knives carried could not have a blade length of a specific size. The 110 ended up being too long, so Buck Knives took the initiative and created the Ranger, a smaller version of the 110. The 112 is another traditional favorite. Closed Length: 4 1/4" (10.8 cm). Can not say enough about these knives, especially the 112.
I have two both gifts , one from the 70's and the other from the late 80's.
They are classics when compared to the knew generation of knives that flip open or spring assist or thumb hole assist.

I got my 112 over 20 years ago, I was 19-20 at the bar having a good time and stereotypes aside a drunk native guy say's *Hey buddy I got something to show you' as he was undoing his belt in the middle of the bar... I was like WTF is going on here thinking the worst haha

Then he pulls out the knife in the holster and says $20 you can have it I said nah I'll buy you a beer and he said sure, he had it customized in native fashion some beaded leather strips hanging off the bottom of the holster and the look on his face when I cut them off immediately after i got it from him..

I can never get rid of that knife as the story makes me chuckle everytime I think of it.
