Any chance someone has some for sale???
Otherwise a Canadian source for identical slug type??
I've spent way too much on trying everything else with only fair at best results.
Cheers

Sounds like you are looking for an alternative to the classic Foster slug. Most will come in an undoubtedly champion Challenger, which is solid ammunition. I'd also look at Kent or Score slugs. I believe both use the "Thug Slug", which is a somewhat like a poor-man's Brenneke. Brenneke's are all but impossible to find up here, and expensive if found.

I'd used the Kent 10-point slug with zero issues. 3in., 1oz., 1750fps.

Not the same unfortunately. The buckhammers had a "t" shape slug with a sabot tail which remained attached. (Shuttlecock like). Punch a crisp as knife hole in cardboard about the size of a dime. Super accurate.
I understand Rottweil "Laser Plus" may be similar, but cannot find them in Canada & cannot order in with other Rottweil slugs from local retailer to try.
Thanks tho

I believe the Buckhammer slugs are not manufactured any more....

Have a look at "Slugs R Us" .... you can order the components for a slug that is very similar to the Buckhammer ... and that has the reputation to be as accurate .... or even more accurate ....

I have tested many many slugs ..... uffffff .... and I can feel with you ....

If you are shooting those Buckhammers out of a rifled barrel ... then the closest what is available on the market (as far as I know) is the wad/slug from Slugrus .... but you have to reload them yourself ...

https://www.slugsrus.com/

They are basically the old Hastings Laser Accurate slugs and which were known for their accuracy. I believe Rottweil now sells them as "Rottweil Laser Plus Sabot Slug Ammunition" .....

Those Slugrus slugs are known to perform well out of many different rifled barrels ....

I ordered a whole bunch of wads and a mold a couple of years back from them ..... At the time they shipped to Canada .... and they might still ship up north. I havn't tried them yet .... but according to all the research that I have done over the years .... they are the closest you probably will find to Buckhammers ... and they have the reputation of the accuracy of the old Hastings Laser Accurate slugs.

-------

Now if you are using a smoothbore .... then my question would be .... have you tried Federal Truball slugs? They are one of the most accurate slug for smoothbore that I am aware of ... and they are accurate out of most of my smoothbore shotguns. I am getting 4" to 5" groups at 100 meters out of my 870 smoothbore.

Thanks very much OfaustusO
Yes it is a rifled barrel. (12ga Hastings on an older 500AB )
I have toyed with the SlugsRus kit for a few years.
Now I am getting near out.
Drop me a pm if you test them.
If you find them quite good then maybe I will give them a try.
Cheers.
Ps Also have a 20 ga model 500 with a rifled barrel that loves them also.
13 pt buck with that last fall. Getting down on those also.
