Hello,

I am looking at getting a Browning Buckmark for my first pistol. More specifically the URX/contour with Slabside barrel.

It comes with rubber grips but I was wondering if I can switch them out to wood later on.

I cannot find info on whether not grips are interchangable between all buckmark models. Are they?

For example, I see many grips that advertise as Buckmark UFX grips, would they fit the URX? (I assume no).

If not, who makes wood grips for the URX?

Thanks,

All Buck Mark pistols share the same frame so the grips are indeed interchangeable between models. The challenge is finding the grips for sale... ;)

As a side note, I have had buck mark pistols with the wood grips and I find them to be too small for all but the tiniest of hands. The contoured URX rubber grips are the best in my humble opinion.

^^ I was told the contour grip frame is not the same. and i have not found aftermarket grips for it.

I have the UDX and am having problems getting any grips like Hogue etc to fit, have had a request in with Browning for 6 months just to get the originals..(Rosewood)

The URX grips don't fit as the UDX has finger grooves in the frame etc..

The OP's asking about the URX.

Bottom line, they're not all the same!

P.S. Re-read the link I posted and note the following:

2. Challenge (Challenge, URX and Buck Mark Rifle Grips) - This frame was introduced for shooters with smaller hands. It is the same width as all other frames but is (A) shorter in the front-to-back dimension and (B) has a slightly different shape. See the pic below. The left frame is a Challenge/URX frame. The one on the right is a Standard/UFX. Note the different curve on the backstrap. It doesn't taper out wider on the bottom as the Standard frame on the right. It has a little forward curl at the bottom of the front strap. Its smaller front-to rear dimension made it the go-to frame when Browning wanted to have the wraparound rubber grip and keep it small enough so it fit more shooters. I have some wraparound wood grips for the Standard frame and thank goodness I have hands like King Kong so they fit.

I absolutely stand corrected. Thaks for the detailed post; the pics really help. Of the three different Buck Mark pistols and one rifle that I have ever owned, they have all had the smaller grip frame. Thanks for the clarification.
