This morning my son counted 32 deer out in his fields(all at one time) ...11 of them bucks ...all 8-pointers , except for one spike horn . He said that they were busy pushing each other around, with some of the bigger, equal-sized bucks getting pretty involved .
Gonna try getting some footage this evening ...if they are close to our tree-stand .
Might take the muzzle loader with me ...just in case Mr. Big shows up .

I went out to the tree-stand about 4:15 PM...lit a fire in the woodstove and made myself comfy . At 4:30 there were two small 8-pointers feeding on the 2nd growth alfalfa....about 350 yds off. In the space of two and a half hours I counted quite a few different deer, but the most out in the fields at the same time was only 14 ....not many bucks and none were jousting . A couple of big deer came out but it was too dark(6:45) to make out if they had horns or not .The furthest deer were about 500 yds. off, the closest (the spike-horn)was 30 yds. from the tree-stand. A doe and fawn that came out of the bush and fed directly down-wind(75 yds.) of the tree-stand didn't care too much for the sight and smell of smoke coming from the chimney...so after 15 minutes they buggered off . Later on they will become used to/unsuspicious of the smoke .
Not much action but still interesting .

what would be the ethics of going after them with a knife now thats sport i no people who have been attacked by hory old bucks at this time.
talk to ya all later
