This buck was taken by the farmer that owns our camp. He
likes to hunt but doesn't eat the meat
. He hardly gets to hunt at all due to the work on his dairy farm and some years corn is late coming off so he is usually combining everyday when he is not milking morning and night.
Anyways, the lucky b@stard manages every few years to punch a nice buck right from the dairy barn.
This time he didn't even have his gun in the barn and had to run to the house and get it from the safe, then run around to find ammo. The previous deer an old 10 pt, he had to run to the house for more shells after he dropped it on the run at 300 yards.
This one was taken over a hay bail for support at about 125 yards.
This older buck was missing an eye looked like he lost it in a fight. We kid him that he shot it from the blind side. He was traveling with a 4pt at the time.
I was 2km away and could hear the shot followed by a faint "WOOOOWHOOO!". He dropped him with one shot to the liver of all things. The back end of one lung was clipped too.
He is a nice 11 point with slight palmation on both antlers. He dressed at 204 lbs. Before anyone asks, yes the deer was tagged.
