Budget .223 :).

The 1/9 .223 Savage will shoot the Hornady 55 V Max accurately out to 300yds but any wind bothers them after that. The Federal 69 SMK factory is good @ 300+ and will shoot inside 3.5" @300yd.

The Hornady 75HPBT does really well in the 1/9 and the 75 AMax does ok but is way too finicky.

I have not tried Factory loads below 53 gr but the 53 gr Superformance did ok as far as accuracy.

Of course you may have different results than the above but I doubt it will be worse than above. I would be surprised if wasn't 1" or less out of the box

PS..The above is based on shooting off a bipod and on a truck tailgate as a table, not benchrest etc.

Another vote for the Savage 12FV. There is one listed for sale on the Bashaw Sports website for $519. For what you're thinking, I'd recommend this over a base sporter model with aftermarket barrel. But I like the Accutrigger and the blind mag.
