Keep seeing to many black bears near were I live and hunt this year so I Put together a cheap yet good quality 300wm budget rifle for hunting to have more stopping power. Mossberg patriot in 300wm, talley rings, and leopold VX1. Pulled it off for 623$ after taxes and shipping. Now all I got to do is take it out and get it sighted in! Hope it all holds up. I had hoped to spend a bit less around 450-500$ but at least now i'm fairly confident it will survive a rough day. For a cheap rifle Im impressed with the quality, but mossberg always leaves me surprised and happy so maybe i'm biased.

Biggest frustration, The base and the ring included are 100% garbage, almost all the screws broke on me and I had to drill them out. Maybe good for a .22 or for your garbage can. The scope that came with the gun combo was thrown on a 7.62, hopefully it holds.

Factory combo guns often have iffy scopes, but almost without fail they have completely useless rings and bases. Good choice on a reasonably priced, yet solid scope and mount combination. I have no experience with the Mossberg rifle, let us know how it shoots.
