I have a Redhawk and like it very much. Mine has a 5.5" barrel, current production offers this and a 7.5" barrel so they meet your requirement there. Mine is blued, they only make them stainless now.
I can see what's nicer about a S&W and why they sell for more, but the Ruger is in better in other ways and costs less - we each have to decide for ourselves which features we value more. S&W's look a bit nicer to most people, have a nicer trigger, usually an excellent finish. The Rugers are built to be more robust, and will stand up for longer to the heaviest loads. If you buy a new S&W you can just not put it through that and never worry about it. If you are buying used and aren't sure you can judge wear and abuse, the Ruger is a safer bet.
