Is it like a rule that at least one guy in every ar15 post has to put in there opinion on nea? I'm sure you have owned a lot of nea rifles and there all garbage right? I might as well just scrap my nea rifles there just waiting to fail.
Yup, he must have read on the internet that they are all garbage and every one of them has failed or will fail. I better sell my AR that I built with an NEA upper and lower, probably going to explode in my face if I put any more rounds through it.
While no one likes to have to use warranty at least if you do need it they are in Canada and have a pretty much no questions asked replacement policy (not that I've ever needed it with my NEA parts). Sure there are better AR's out there but for the price the NEA is a decent rifle with fantastic support from the manufacturer. If I was buying a complete rifle I would probably go with Core or Windham Weaponry for around the same money but for building a rifle NEA parts are fine.
I'm just as sick of these exact same threads popping up every week or two asking what awesome super operator non restricted AR looking semi auto rifle is available for under $1000. The answer is there are none and there never will be a
quality non restricted 223/5.56 rifle for under $1000.
Norinco T97 is a disposable piece of crap with no warranty and no parts support, they may shoot but with zero quality control at the factory you roll the dice and hope to get one that works and then you're messing with it trying to get your magazines to fit because it seems like every magwell was cut to a different spec.
Ruger mini-14 or mini-30 are not black rifles. If you buy one then waste a bunch of money on a stock trying to make it something it's not you may as well have spent your money on a real black rifle.
Kel-Tek SU-16 is only good if you get the FX model and then you are over $1000. I use the term good loosely in this case as I would consider them to be decent and my experience with one so far has been positive, definitely not high end but better than the two rifles I've listed above.
Kel-Tek is capable of making quality firearms and the KSG and RFB that I owned were both reliable and did exactly as they advertised.
For under $1000 you're best option is as was mentioned earlier to buy a pistol caliber carbine but even those can be hit or miss depending which one you choose and then you're pretty much limited to shooting around 100 yards.
Maybe these repeated "I'm looking for a _____ black rifle" are just trolling threads from some anti making a list of guns to try to get banned. Hmmmmm......
Op, not trying to offend you but if you read back through the last couple pages of of black and green rifle threads I'm sure you'll find virtually the same question asked and argued about a couple times. This comes up at least once a week.
