Im looking to get my first long range rifle. I've read a bunch on here and am now debating between a tikka t3x either ctr or super varmint or building a semi custom rifle using an action that accepts prefit shouldered prefits. What would you recommend for a cost effective package?

Does that budget include glass or just the rifle. A custom is always better than a factory rifle. Just look at what features you want. The Zermatt Origin is a great action to build off with a reasonable price. Gobig tactical has a complete rifle in a krg bravo for $3200 I think. This would allow you to run different calibers as your needs change over time because you can just spin off the barrel and swap the bolt head. I run 2 of them and have multiple barrels for each. You can obviously spend more but it's a great start that I'd pick over a tikka or Remington 10/10
Yeah, it's a great option for a "budget" build. Add a spigot for the bravo in your cart and you're good to go.
The Aero solus is another option in that price point. I have no experience with it so I can't say how it compares to the origin. Obviously they are functionally different but still a good option capable of accepting origin shouldered barrels.

That's a decent deal and a good package.
If you want to spec your own build, actions like Zermatt Origin, Kelbly Atlas, BAT ignitor are pretty good values. If you want to save even more, you can go with Mac Bros action. KRG Bravo is a great chassis for the price, MDT also has some value options. TT trigger is a solid choice, and Canadian.
I built mine off the Cadex R7 action. 55 deg bolt lift, and love it for that.
This I'm comparing to the custom hunting rifle I had built on the defiance anti action.
I used an IBI barrel with the "savage" style nut, so I could put it together at home without a barrel vice, or other special tools, beside go gauges. Choose your 700 footprint chassis/ stock, add your trigger tech trigger of choice, and all it needs is glass. Everything now is profit, and can be put together at home without special tools.
