Ok so here's the situation.

I have a wannabe tactical stock on my Mini 14 because the butt is telescopic so I can shorten it for my kids.

I put a red dot on it and it works fine for them spending ammo and plinking.

When this rifle was in the wood with an old VXII on it beaver heads at 80yds wasn't an issue, now it is.

My old eyes need something with some x

I should have kept the 3x magnifier I had but I honestly never imagined I'd use this stock or red dot so I sold the tip off magnifier.

I saw a rubber coated something on the EE but I'm not spending $200

My ol Mini is minute of beaver head even with Norc ammo but not being able to see at dusk has me scaring the shyte out of more than I kill. Yes I could tote a bolt gun with good glass but I'm packin this unit around doing chores and what not and my kids have a hoot with it.

So the question...Is there any decent economy priced glass out there that would suit the wannabe tactical plastic look and still give old eyes 4x or so to work with?

Help a Brother out :)

I picked up a Bushnell AR Optics 3x9 for under $200 to throw on a budget AR15...Works well for a half decent scope you don't have to worry about.

Try a Simmons Whitetail 1-5x20. Gives you that tactical look, glass is good for the price, reticle is good, build quality is good. It out performs it's competition in this price point. I bought one and I can confirm that it is a better scope than Tasco, Redfield or even a Barska with similar specs. I got mine for $69.

Any ideas where to get the whitetail 1-5?
