Hey guys bought an eotech exps a couple of years back and couldnt be happier, was lookin into gettin an aimpoint a1 or a trijicon acog for my other toys as the xps is being shared all around. Well since those good ol days, life happens, kids, house, cars and now still dyin for a higher end optic but just cant scrape together that kind of cash for that kind of piece without being castrated while i sleep. Im looking for some tried and proven ideas from users who have had success with quality products on a budget. I would appreciate any help you guys could offer me. I shoot my shotties inside 30 yards and my ars less than 200. Lookin for some holo or red dot options for the shot guns as i really wanted an a1 for my m4. Some ideas on the way to go with the. 223 ars as well, thanks in advance for your time.

I bought a Burris Ar556 5x great little optic for my XCR.I had a Lucid HD7 on it before but it had no magnification,I still have it.I paid 300.00$ for the Burris off of Ebay.Good Luck

I've heard nothing but great things about the Bushnell TRS 25. Probably the best bang for buck as you can find it online for $100-ish. Also, I second the Vortex @ $200-ish.

Right on can they all handle the recoil well? Like for shotguns... Any other ideas, i can easily go through sites and pick cheap stuff, i just want to hear from people like you guys who have had actual tried and tested experience with a budget optic. Thanks so far, i do have a couple of ideas going forward.

I've used the vortex strike fire, as well as currently own a bushnell TRS 25. Both in my opinion are great red (and green in the strike fires case).

I will now stick to the TRS though just cause of the more compact size, and smaller dot. 3 Moa on the TRS compared to 4 Moa on the strike fire.

I have heard of a lot of guys using the TRS on 12 gauges with no issue.

I would like to point out that the beauty of the Vortex is that they have a lifetime warranty, and (AFAIK) will repair/replace the optic for any reason. So, if you install it on a shotgun and shake the electronics loose while shooting magnum rounds, you can get it fixed. However, Vortex does have a slightly higher price tag, and they're parallax free over 50 yards. Bushnell, on the other hand, is cheaper and should be parallax free at all ranges, but they have a limited warranty.

Both seem to be great budget optics and have a decent following, so it's up to you what details are more important.

Hmmm so the vortex seems like a good buy, where could I find one locally in Toronto?

Last but not least which model do you guys recommend best?

How would a TR-25 be for a .22 semi automatic at sub 50 yard ranges? recoil isn't a factor like a shotgun or heavier caliber-seems like a nice grouse gun setup[I can't use open sights anymore]

I have the TRS25 on my 10/22 and was shooting a 12" steel plate at 166 yards on Saturday, close to 20 out of 25 rounds at a time.
50 yards is a piece of cake and will work just great!
