Budget red dot reccomendations?

My price point is anything between $100-$300 with preference going to high value for money spent so if the $300 sight is 20% better than the $200 sight I would just buy the $200 sight but if you actually get a bigger improvement by spending a few more dollars in ok with that. Money is tight so ideally I would find something for $150 that would work just fine. A guy has to dream lol

For your budget, I would personally go with a Vortex Sparc AR. Has a nice rubber cover, flip caps, great controls and nice battery placement, great warranty and 300$ price. IMO its the best inexpensive red dot.

I'be been curious to buy one of those very cheapo unit sold on eBay for about $25 just to see how bad/good they are. Anybody buy one of these??

Tried one on a 10/22, broke after 100 rounds lol, can't remember what Chinese brand. This was years ago so maybe quality improved now.

In order of (personal) preference for RDS, re: NOT magnified optics (primary Arms takes that for me) I'd recommend Holosun, Vortex and then Primary Arms (though the Holosun/Primary Arms collaboration is top notch).

Learn from the costly mistakes of others (like myself) and skip the budget red dot game, get an Aimpoint.

That's all i'm gonna say about that.

Vortex will serve you well.

I also have a Sig Sauer Romeo 5, which is contract made by Holosun for Sig, and It's proven to be a great optic so far.

My Vortex I've had for about 4 years, and it's ridden on shotguns, my AR, my 858, my 10/22 at one point. It's held up very well, no problems at all.

my Sig Romeo 5 has been on my 858 for the past year, and has done well so far, but I haven't exactly worked it too hard. I do like the optics better than on the Vortex, just not sure about long term reliability yet.

TRS25 is doing well on my AR15 in 7.62x39. 2500rds and still fine. I should have bought another one when the 25% rebate promo was on two months ago.
I do have Aimpoint Pro also, but I can't afford those for all my rifles.

Another vote for Holosun. The dual-power solar sights with battery backup and the circle-dot reticle are very nice sights. Altogether, I have 7 Holosun sights in use, 3 of which are on .12 ga shotguns dating back to Holosun's first appearance on the Canadian market a number of years ago. I haven't had a single issue with any of them. The basic Holosun are very affordable. The upper end Holosun cost more, but are features rich compared to the competition, including the aforementioned solar power, auto shutoff, "shake-awake" motion-on, kill-flash, flip-caps, etc. Very nice sights for a fraction of the cost of an Aimpoint.

I should have mentioned that for comparison's sake, I also have an Aimpoint T1, a Vortex Razor red-dot, and a Bushnell First Strike in service on 9mm carbines. The Holosun sights leave nothing wanting in comparison to any of the above brands.

HOLOSUUUUUUUUN!!!!!! To echo what many have said and give my experience, Holosun is a great value.

I bought a 515c off the EE for 280$ shipped around a month ago. They can be had cheaper especially if you don't care for a donut reticle. The solar power is awesome tho!

The other option is the trs25. I'v used them and my friends and I got to say, I would easily spend twice as much on a Holosun. Trs25 works, but it isn't satisfying. Dots not near as crisp, batteries drain quick and the "dot maker thingy" obstructs your view too much imho. So it works, but it just doesn't deliver the full red dot experience. Like being able to always have it on, have different reticle options and tech options (like auto turn off, auto brightness, ect.) and having a crisp dot.

I'm very impressed with my Holosun and will never buy anything else while holosun is on the market
