I am a cowboy action shooter and am wanting to get into the long range/silhouette shooting using a 45-70.
There are a few choices out there (levers, rolling blocks, etc) and each comes with a different price tag. I am a shooter first and foremost and buy/keep rifles based on accuracy, not necessarily the make or prestige. I know with the Buffalo Classic, I need to purchase some tang sights as the Williams peep is not allowed, but has anyone shot these things much?
I looked at one and wondered about the closing tang...is it strong enough in the long haul? How accurate are these things? Can't beat the price, but is there any known issues?
As an example, I have a Poly M14 which I chose (because of opinions) and spent a few dollars to tweak and refine it into a fine shooter. Can this be done to an H & R?
