Looking for a Canadian free ranging Buffalo hunt before my age puts it out of the question. Prefer Alberta or Sask. if possible and non draw. Been doing the AB. draw for years now with no luck. So maybe there is something out there that I do not know of.Want to use BPCR.
Price?
Place?

Regards

Unless something changed this year that I don't know about non-residents CANNOT hunt bison in the Yukon. And I do not believe any outfitters have allotments for bison. At the growth rate of the herds though, this may be a possibility very soon.

i though mervin had some tags but could be wrong there are a few in northern bc that do have them.

Like I said I could be out of date, maybe he did this year. They don't tell us any of this info under general disclosure, you have to go and ask specific questions. I can't be bothered finding out anymore what the outfitter quotas are.

You have the option for free range bison on the east side of highway 58 there are outfitters for this but it's one hard hunt skidoos horses tents and alot of snow next option is to apply for the zama bison draw not alot of tags get issued but like they say if you don't buy a ticket you can't win. Anyway you cut it its a winter hunt, unless you go south of the border

There used to be a couple outfitters around Pink Mountain that offer free range wild bison hunts from horseback. I spoke with one about it but that was a long time ago and a lot may have changed since then.

I was under the impession that NWT had outfitted bison hunts, no?

I did some asking around and apparently Tim Mervin does get some tags and offers bison hunts.
My mistake, it's getting harder to keep up with the regs as I get older, or maybe I just don't care any more.

The area he hunts is north of Kluane Lake here in the Yukon. It is called Mervyn's Yukon Outfitting.
You won't find freer range bison anywhere, there ain't a fence within 200 miles of his area. His home phone (quite likely his office as well) is 867 633 3188.

You could check out some of the First Nations. About ten years ago before I left Alberta I remember reading about a buffalo hunt that took place at Keehewin First Nation north of Edmonton.
