Yes, it's me; I'm back, at least for the nonce.

This is my 8000th post on CGN. I had planned something neat for this one, but something came up which is FAR more important.

You all know BUFFDOG, either in person, by communication, or just as the guy who knows damned near everything about Swedish rifles...... or as the guy who spearheaded that brilliant fund-raiser earlier this year, the one which raised the best part of 3 grand for refurbishment and preservation of two Minenwerfer which were captured at Vimy Ridge.

Yeah, that's the guy.

Some of us know another Buffdog: a big guy with a ready smile and an infectious laugh. A guy with an incredible stock of almost-impossible tales...... which he can PROVE. A guy who is willing to put up with idiot questions from new enthusiasts and asks only that they LEARN and APPRECIATE the historical artifacts which we treasure.

Yeah, that Buffdog.

You may not know it but he had a serious heart attack a few years back. I got a call from Steve (Tinman204) last night, informing me that he had just heard from Buffdog, who has been mysteriously silent for several weeks. It turns out that our friend is in the Hospital, has had an operation to remove a part of his GUTS..... and we damned near LOST him!

Yes. Buffdog, our friend (and I am damned sure he has helped almost everyone here at one time or another) is very ill. He is in hospital, I believe in Brantford (his home town). If you feel moved, send him a card or a call. His mail is being checked for him and he will be at LEAST another 3 weeks in hospital. You can send cards, letters to:

Wayne G. Stairs
Apt. 207
50 High Street
St. George
Brant, Ontario
N0E 1N0

I'm headin' downtown just as soon as the Post Office opens. How about you?
Is our Friend worth a stamp to you? Sure is to me, anyway.

Hey Smellie, I'm that Patch rat that wandered up for a visit a wintery morn in 2013. Good to hear you are still around but a damn shame about Buffdod. I shall grab a card in town and send it, ASAP

Very sorry to hear this about Wayne and thank you for letting us know. I am going to get something in the mail right away and am pulling for a speedy recovery for him.

Thanks for the info.

We want to hear from you again.
How about you? You need help for getting your project going again after the arson?

I will get a get well card off to buffdog, it's the least I can do. Dealing with Wayne was always a pleasure, and it's nice to see you post on here again smellie.

Good to know that both of you guys are still out there, and kickin' it.

I'll send something off for sure... something for the museum if you decide to re-engage... take care!!

Will send a card off, Smellie. Thanks for the heads up. I've never met or even communicated with Buffdog, but I reckon kindness doesn't come cheaper than this. :)

Glad to hear you're still on this side of the turf. Take good care.

Dan

Sorry to hear buffdog is having trouble. Thanks for letting us know. Will get a card out ASAP. Wayne has helped me in more ways than I can thank him for. I am lucky enough to have a part of his Swedish collection in my pile. There seems to be a kind of unseen, unheard, but definitely felt spirit eminating from those guns. I hope Wayne can gather some good vibes from such unlikely items. I know I do.

GET BETTER!

Hi smellie good to finally here from you not so good to hear buff dog is sick, will get a card of to him as soon as I can ,wishing him a speedy recovery

Smellie, if you're talking to Wayne please let him know he has a package coming from Amazon in the next week or so.

Hope he's on the mend soon.

Cheers,

Dan

Indeed, many thanks Smellie for taking the time to inform us, it is very much appreciated - and will send some wishes to Wayne asap.

Maybe I should say I'll send some Swedishes. (Swedish wishes?).

He may have something to do with the fact that I do have a M96 now. (just one. otherwise my Lee Enfields will start swearing at me).

Does he need anything? With Amazon you can buy just about anything and send it anywhere. if he is home we can get him some house keeping so he can get some rest.

I too want to thank Smellie for posting this about our dear friend Wayne.

Wayne has been a very good friend to me over the years. Words can not express just how much I appreciate all that he's done for me.

Get well soon friend.
