Yes, it's me; I'm back, at least for the nonce.
This is my 8000th post on CGN. I had planned something neat for this one, but something came up which is FAR more important.
You all know BUFFDOG, either in person, by communication, or just as the guy who knows damned near everything about Swedish rifles...... or as the guy who spearheaded that brilliant fund-raiser earlier this year, the one which raised the best part of 3 grand for refurbishment and preservation of two Minenwerfer which were captured at Vimy Ridge.
Yeah, that's the guy.
Some of us know another Buffdog: a big guy with a ready smile and an infectious laugh. A guy with an incredible stock of almost-impossible tales...... which he can PROVE. A guy who is willing to put up with idiot questions from new enthusiasts and asks only that they LEARN and APPRECIATE the historical artifacts which we treasure.
Yeah, that Buffdog.
You may not know it but he had a serious heart attack a few years back. I got a call from Steve (Tinman204) last night, informing me that he had just heard from Buffdog, who has been mysteriously silent for several weeks. It turns out that our friend is in the Hospital, has had an operation to remove a part of his GUTS..... and we damned near LOST him!
Yes. Buffdog, our friend (and I am damned sure he has helped almost everyone here at one time or another) is very ill. He is in hospital, I believe in Brantford (his home town). If you feel moved, send him a card or a call. His mail is being checked for him and he will be at LEAST another 3 weeks in hospital. You can send cards, letters to:
Wayne G. Stairs
Apt. 207
50 High Street
St. George
Brant, Ontario
N0E 1N0
I'm headin' downtown just as soon as the Post Office opens. How about you?
Is our Friend worth a stamp to you? Sure is to me, anyway.
