buffer retainer does not fit

The hole should be .255 + .006. You could use a 6.5mm, F or G drill bit to clean the hole out.

1/4 inch drill bit = 0.25 inchs .
I just try it on a stripped Spikes lower , just fits .

thanks. ill keep that in mind next time. i sanded down the buffer retainer. took a bit of work but. just tossed on a movie and scratched away. i forgot to check the diameter after, was too excited to get the rest assembled.

had to wear my ear muffs to get rid of that terrible metal scratching sound

Stick detent in drill and put a fine file to it to turn it down until it fits.

Before you modify anything:

What lower are you using? Is it painted/coated?
Who made the buffer detent pin? Is it for an AR15 or possibly an AR10? Did it come in an LPK?
Grab a set of $30 analog calipers at CT or Cabelas, makes this hobby much easier when building from different manufacturers.

Ar15 and ar10 use the same buffer retainer

I would have tried grabbing the small end in an electric drill and spinning the thing against the abrasive.
