Anyone know where I might score one of these in Canada?

I don't feel like paying a gunsmith just to install a sling plate, and I don't want to wait forever for Brownell's. Happy to pay a little more for the privelege of getting it within a week.

Thanks!

strap wrench
Just tried that, the castle nut is staked, and it just frayed the #### out of my strap wrench. Here's a pic so you know what I'm talking about:

Where are you?
Halifax, NS.

Questar! like 13 bucks plus taxes and shipping or if youre local pick it up!

Upon checking thier site it lists them as out of stock.....could always call.

Buffer tube.

"Unstake" the Castle Nut using a hammer and a small flat bladed screwdriver or flat punch. Place the tip in the groove and gently knock the displaced material back into the End Plate.

Then use the same technique with a bigger blade or punch to start the Castle Nut turning.

However, you may need the proper tool to torque the castle nut back up to 40 foot pounds before restaking with either a automatic center punch or hammer and punch (or modified flat blade screwdriver if you want the Colt factory "look"). You may be able to get away with using your strap wrench if you can get it tight enough.

Regards.

Buy an armourers tool from Brownells. The basic castle nut wrenches are alittle weak and can round off abit.

Did that, and it's absolutely useless, the barrel wrench portion of it is no good for my rifle, the castle nut wrench isn't even close to being the right size, the flash hider wrench is slightly too small. It's basically ready for the garbage.

I used this one

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=27454/Product/CAR_15_M4_BUTTSTOCK_WRENCH

I have tried a few others that either didnt fit or were weak and flimsy. The above allows alot of torque to be applied on all 4 contact points.

Well, took the staking out as far as I could with my punch set, still no dice with the tools I have. I might try princess auto tomorrow, but I'm a little worried about the amount of torque I might have to put on the receiver without a proper vice block.

Looks like it's an hour drive to the gunsmith for me, unless any local CGNers would we willing to do it for a reasonable price.
