Buffer Tubes?

Questions...

#1) Are all buffer tubes the same dimension? I have a Magpul buttstock, but need to get a tube still. So will any brand fit the Magpul stock?

#2) Is there any such thing as brands that are better, or are they all the same?

#3) And who had buffer tubes for sale in Edmonton?
 
buffer tubes come in commercial spec and mil-spec. they are slightly different.
your magpul stock should indicate which you need.

I ordered one off of amazon.com. Don't forget the buffer tube castle nut and castle nut wrench as well, if your don't have them
 
^ I ordered a Magpul CTR (Milspec) compact stock from SFRC. I've been looking trying to find a buffer tube online, with no luck; cannot find a buffer tube, cuz I learn there's the 2 dimensions, Milspec and Commercial (which is retarded). And I'm not sure which I should get... at this point I still wasn't even aware which I had bought; Milspec or Commercial... :redface:

So on the weekend, I take my CTR stock to the city; should be a piece of cake to get a buffer tube right?

Go into Cabelas.... Me: "You got any buffer tubes?" Cabelas 'Sales Associate': "What's a buffer tube?"
Okay then... go find the next sales expert... Me: "You got any buffer tubes?" Cabelas 'Sales Associate': "A buffer tube. What's that? What's it for?"
Hmmm... search further, find a 'grizzled veteran', this should be the guy to help me! Me: "You got any buffer tubes?" 'Grizzled Veteran Uber-Cabelas salesman: " A buffer tube.... no, never heard of that... what it is, maybe I can ask one of the other guys..." Me: "No. No thanks for the help!" I leave Cabelas.

Head over to P&D. Sold out of buffer tubes. The one place I was certain I could get one.

Go to Milarm. I remind myself to get the castle nut to go with the buffer tube. But by the time I make the guy at Milarm understand that I am serious about buying a buffer tube, I've gotten sidetracked, and forget about the stupid castle nut! Doh!
Naturally, they've got tons of Commercial tubes but no Milspec, which is what I need. But at least I left Milarm with a commercial buffer tube. But I'm like, "no problem, WSS is certain to have lots of Magpul stocks, I'll just wheel over there, select one from the hundreds they are sure to have in stock...

Arrive at WSS... Me: "Got any Magpul stock components?" WSS clerk: "Just whatever we have over there..." Wander over to the shelf. Nothing but stupid generic SKS and 10-22 generic stock kits. No Magpul or any other AR type stuff on the 'shelf'. *!#@%^!!

So back to P&D, cuz I saw Magpul stuff there on the first trip. They had a bunch of Milspec Magpul butt stocks, lots of styles, but exactly 1 Commercial. Once again, brain-dead Me, forget to get a Castle Nut.

Now I have the 2 Magpul stock pieces; a Milspec and a Commercial, a Commercial buffer tube... no effing Castle Nut...
