So I am taking my critterbug hunting tomorrow. (my daughter):D She is 10 and it is not her first hunt but it is her first hunt this year. We are hooking up with my friend and his daughter and going to do a daddy, daughter hunt. I don't know who is more excited her or me? She is definitely not a tree stand or blind hunter. Last year, we tried both and she quite loudly informed me that she would rather push bush than sit in a ground blind. I got lots of snacks and hot chocolate for her and her buddy. The best thing about this hunt is that my friend's daughter and mine are best friends just like him and I! So I hope that they will continue hunting together through out the years. If Trav and I have our way so will our sons hunt together soon.

Just had to brag out what a great daughter I have!! Can't wait till the spring so we can go gopher hunting together. Her .22 is sighted in perfectly for her.:dancingbanana::rockOn:

My oldest daughter went bird hunting with us when she was still in a car-seat. *Note, it works better when you remember to strap the seat in, but apparently rideing around in the back of a Cherokee upside down is kind of fun too.
Fishing is another one. My kids always kept track of, looked forward to their "Alone with Daddy trips". Still do, though there is more teamwork now. One will bait hooks for the leach wary one, or designate themselves the netter for the rest of day. Apparently there is more action in netting for 3 people than fishing for themselves, or so it was explained to me.

Doing these things with the girls is a bit different than it is with my boy. He always tried to do whatever I was doing, where the girls do whatever seems fun at the time. They especially like showing off to their cousins.

Back from the bug hunt. She did amazing hiking up and down the river valley with me. We didn't get a deer, but we got something WAY more valuable memories and some one on one time. She learned more about tracking and identifying animal sign and tracks. She spotted a couple deer across the river and info'd me that it would be unethical to shoot them form the distance we were at and no way to get across the river and back again. I wasn't going to shoot them but she told me this before I even had a chance to ask her if I should shoot them, she offered her opinion.

Great time and even better memories.

I love taking my little girl out she is 3 and ( I have two 3 and 8 mo's) we went on a squirrel hunt this year together. Aside from her falling over every downed log out there she had a ball and was picking up leaves and cones just having a blast. The hunts do not last long at this age but very entertaining. And we don't ever see any squirrel...

Next year on her fourth birthday she gets her BB gun by 5 she will be trained on .22 as well. I hope the tradition will last forever with my girls because it certainly gets me in the mood to share the time.

Plant the seed early and fresh air is good for them.
My youngest shot her first deer with her grad present.
Stevens 200 in 308win.
Loves the hunt/fish thing.
Catches more fish than me, but I let her use my fishing set up.
Would rather net than catch.
Glorious to see the expressions on her face.
She has a big boyfriend now who loves the outdoors
and it works for me, I keep him tired.
He's jealous of the fact he hasn't hit fur yet and it shows.
I git to call him a big baby if he won't let up.
Tried my darnest to find him a buck this year, so it'll have to be next season.
Enjoy them while you can as they do grow up and get a life of their own.
