Having a lever and a pump in 45 Colt, I've been tossing around an idea of having a semi auto for the same cartridge. I thought for sure someone on the net would have already designed and built one, but I cant find anything. Contemplated a design based off the Ruger 44 Mag action, but a lot of metal work would have to be done, and I don't know if the bolt face can be opened that much more. The action would most definitely take the lower pressures. Just imagine lobbing 300grain bullets as fast as you can pull the trigger. Any ideas?

Getting a semi to feed a short rimmed case can prove too great a challenge for most to attempt.

Ruger built thier .44 Mag autoloader with a tube magazine, then the rotary magazine.

If you just want a .45 caliber option, think .45 Magnum. The M1 Carbine has been reworked in this caliber.

Kriss Super V non restricted

45 acp but the longer barrel gives you the added velocity.

A Just Right Carbine would be another option if .45 ACP would suffice - and they are non-restricted. They advertise them as being available with either Glock or 1911 10-shot magazines.
