Build Box: Custom Bolt Gun Build

Gun Talk’s Build Box Season 2 continues with a full build of a Remington 700-pattern bolt-action Rifle. Starting with the Aero Precision Solus action, the mission here is to create a bolt gun that is “short, light, easy to carry in the field - but most importantly - accurate.” Host Ryan Gresham is joined by builders Chris Cerino and Kevin “KJ” Jarnagin, along with guest Todd Bonura from Maniacal Arms, to craft a unique rifle that balances functionality with exceptional accuracy.

Parts, tools, accessories and storage systems for this build from: Aero Precision, Cerakote, Hawkins Precision, Leupold Optics, Proof Research, Real Avid, SecureIt, Silencer Central, Timney Triggers, Warne Scope Mounts, and WOOX.

Hmmm other that the wood bits, it ain’t my thing lol!! I like how they test accuracy shooting water melons at 50 yards hahaha(I’m sure it’s a shooter though)!

Likewise, I don't have any tatoos or any fugly noted above gun...............I'm a Fudd! Sorry OP, todays gun are just plain fugly!
I have to agree with the above!! And look so uncomfortable to carry and shoot and cold, imagine carrying that thing at -20c caribou or bison hunting!! Hahaha i’m a fudd too I guess!

Hey, I guess every Fudd has his flavour.

When I hunt in -20, or less I usually have gloves on, so I don't know how that would make a difference in the end. Really I have a thin set of gloves on when it gets close to zero, and then go thicker gloves as the weather gets colder.

My chassis carries just fine in the cold, and I notice no real difference when its cold. No its not a Woox, but still a chassis. Would I get a Woox, probably not. Do I love me a nice wood stock, yep, but I would rather carry a chassis hunting so it doesn't get dinged up.

An expensive rifle, assembled using quality components, doing a really good job of blowing up watermelons at close range. I was impressed at the lack of hearing protection...
It would have been nice to see how it grouped at, say, 500m.

Looks like they just took all the parts their sponsors gave them and turned it into a rifle.

Not really a fan of the cerakote choices or the Woox stock. I wonder what it really came in at weight-wise.

Good for you! It not for me!

I don’t have enough tattoos to shoot something that cool.

Lmao

Yeah I was reading that solus and thought it said soulless and also when it said the mission was to create a short light bolt gun that was accurate.....uh....yeah

I checked out pretty quick, that formula has been around quite awhile and in many flavours of appearance, most of which better

Good humour thread

Hope this prs ffp mil xmas tree trying to apply for hunting job as some super extended long range Hunter trend ends soon. Never did understand the super car guys, if it’s not a truck I don’t understand lol. You can set up a chassis to hunt, got one, adjustable lop to fit the family and add weight and ergo for shoot ability for whole fam, regular sfp hunt scope etc but you don’t see that many setting them up for the function of hunt, some prs trend and the buyers won’t kill any further than the guys with regular sporters.
