I'm not sure there's anything available for the MFT Minimalist stock I plan to use. I also think it's a good idea for my OAL to be over the minimum with the stock removed since removing it is relatively trivial. I know there are NR guns available that can go to a fireable state under the overall minimum length for NR with the push of a button and pulling the buttstock off. However, since this is something I am customizing, I want to make sure I have my legal bases covered and the less room for interpretation the better.
 
Got a couple things in the mail today. The Mesa Tactical shell holder is a bit heavier than I was expecting and I am not impressed with the finish on a $90 part. The light is pretty anemic in the lumen department but only 3/4oz.

I probably would have went with a Velcro shotshell holder like the ones from s&j probably would have saved some weight.

Cylinder bore works good for frangible (door breaching rounds), flares, buckshot, and slugs. For a tac shotgun, those are your primary rounds. I'd skip the choke tube and use the space to store a flare, personally.

That's a cool idea. I will definitely consider it. I was considering keeping a full or modified choke in the grip to make birdshot a bit more interesting for effing around purposes.

Luckily, the barrel nut for the forend fits over the barrel almost perfectly. I'm simply going to JB Weld it in place.

This bar in the middle of the photo is what actuates the extractor. It needs a place to live when the action is closed. A bit of time with the dremel and a file made that happen today.

Getting pretty close to finished now. Painted the stock adapter, trigger guard, and where I cut the keymod handguard. JB-Welded the barrel nut onto the barrel. I think I nailed the alignment.

The Magpul stock went back on my AR and this gun will have the Minimalist pictured a few posts up. It will be interesting to see what it's like to shoot slugs out of this thing. I had a shorty OU that was about the same weight with a limbsaver pad on it and it was certainly bearable. I'm expecting this one to be a bit less comfortable. In terms of recoil, I think to some extent the light weight is offset by the short barrel length and loss of muzzle energy.
 
I've heard that shorter barrels have less recoil [ it was something to do with LAPD Ithaca 37's and their 14" barrels not kicking as hard , IIRC ] or maybe it was that the impuse isn't as long / hard because the round was out the barrel quicker .

Anyways , this is a very neat project , good job on the stock adapter , very creative .lol
