Not my experience, I built my first AR a few weeks ago, I collected all the parts I wanted and the tools I needed to assemble them. I have only had my Rpal for a year, but I am a hands on kind of person, so for me assembling an AR was pretty simple and easy once I had the correct parts and tools
It all went together fine, even with a pretty wide mix of parts and brands
Its my 2nd rifle, my first was a DD MK18 that I bought complete and modded out...For me assembling the rifle myself was a lot more fun, and working on guns is just as much fun for me as shooting them. I prefer assembling, but in my case assembling cost way more then buying a complete rifle, but its got all the parts I wanted on it...

Boy oh boy. You build NICE rifles, Johnny.
Hmpffffff! But I digress!!! Boys we can fertilize the ground all day long but it won't do anyone any good if it's still winter and the ground's still frozen! Let's do the math!
Johnny, can you dig your bills out? I would like a price on that build - minus the cost of the optic and vertical fore grip. That's a 7.5" barrel, right? I just bought a very similar Black Rain shorty from the boys at the Phoenix gun shop last Friday. $1995.00. Mine probably isn't as snazzy as yours, so I think you have a few farkles on there that I do not. How much for that can and buttstock? They are fairly pricey, right? You could probably knock a few beans off your total if you went to more plain offerings I would think...
I just think it would be interesting to put hard numbers on it. I don't mind paying extra; I have dealt with Phoenix before and had had a problem with a Guide Gun with some manufacturing defects. The owner took that gun back on the spot and gave me a brand new functional one - no questions asked. I'm willing to pay a premium for service like that - and if you boys are too - you should deal with them too! (I am sorry if this violates any rules on testimonials; I think good customer service should be noted and accolades given when required. Are they a CGN sponsor? If not - they should be. They are one of us.)
In any event, this is my rifle:

Yes, I know that is the wrong glass for it - and it will be rectumfied soon!
