hello,

Can anyone confirm for me....

1. Does the rem 700 338lm with the accuracy international/badger system use the same length/size mags as the AICS 700 338lm chassis system.

2. Is it possible to adapt this AICS/700 chassis to accept either a stiller 338 tac or a barnard PLM. Both have larger OD's

3. Is the BARNARD PLM too precise, ie. sacrafice reliability in the muck (reliability in field conditions is important to me, minute of man at 1300m is acceptable)

Going with a 29" Bartlein barrel if possible

NO as Remington does not use any AI or Badger parts on their rifles. The mags are made by Accurate Mag, the bottom metal is outsourced as well , I just can not remember to whom.
The AMC mags are longer than the AI mags.

YES but the problem still remains that the mags are toooooooo short to get the potential this caliber has to offer.
Reliability can also be an issue. We no longer will build a 338 Lapua using an AICS stock, the stock is great for some calibers, just not the 338 in our opinion.

3. Is the BARNARD PLM too precise, ie. sacrafice reliability in the muck (reliability in field conditions is important to me, minute of man at 1300m is acceptable)
The why look to a custom action ? The 700 platform is EASILY capable of this. There is no appreciable gain in accuracy going to a custom action.

Thanks very much!

This confirms my research so far re. the mags and the aics stock.

To be more specific, I would like more precision than that, I just just won't sacrifice reliability to obtain it.
