building a 700 HB what cal?

gotta chime in with the 'reload' folks. building a custom gun and shooting bulk boxed ammo through it is like buying a precision-tuned race car and then trying to race it with pump gas. Just not gonna work.

All the same, I'd suggest a 243, 260 or maybe even a 7mm08 if you ever intend on using this on deer. All those cartridges are perfectly satisfactory on smaller game too, so long as you're not worried about pelt damage

I didn't say I would shoot cheap ammo all the time. I like a Nosler partition for hunting. and if I went .243 cal it would be awhile before I could reload & get a good supply of brass. So what I need to do is check the ballistics on these calibers before I make my mind up on this build, I wasn't going to up in and build the complete gun all at once. need the right caliber first. as of right now I'm leaning towards .223 or .204 build & just buy a cheaper gun for deer. I really like the .243 cal just think it would suck for smaller varmints. I like to see them blow up. :D
