Building a list of sub-$1000 9mm pistols.

Walter PPQ and Grand Power are both great guns under $1000.00

The PPQ is a bit more expensive but it's the nicest striker fired polymer/metal gun I've had the pleasure to shoot.

Grand Power is a very accurate, interesting and unique rotating lock up, polymer/metal hammer fired gun.

I'm looking to start from new, not used...so not everything can be had for under $1000, and that's with tax included.

quick question, what is the difference between the Magnum Research Baby Eagle II and the IWI Jericho? they appear to be one the same and the only thing I can fathom different is that one is not all polymer?

also, the reason for the striker fired limitation is more a person thing, having fired hammered pistols, but nothing with strikers.

Get a Walther PPQ. Should be right around $1000.00

There are some less expensive Walther models for sale now but I have no experience with them.

at this point, I need to be more about quantity of different guns to shoot so I have things to talk about and evaluate.

of course, the plan would be to slowly expand that list to include all the options presented. funds permitting, I may even expand so much so as to do a sub-$1000 hammered steel gun line up too.

I see I missed that in your OP,
You want to buy as many guns as you can for a couple grand.

There were some pretty good deals on the Grand Power's at Dlask so even though it's a hammer gun it might fit your need to try cheaper guns.

As a new shooter you may find it difficult to evaluate a bunch of guns at the same time and the switching from one platform to another might be a challenge.

Most of your findings(beyond reliability) will likely be personal and so of not much use for others. Perhaps you should start at a rental range?

There was a Berretta 92 clone at Wholesale Sports. I can't remember the manufacturer, but it was virtually identical and half the price.
