Building A Modern Hand Cannon *FINISHED* (Pic Heavy)

I'm also impressed you timed the screws correctly

:) Drives me nuts when screws are not timed. Surprised anyone noticed.

Very impressive!!! Would love to see it shoot.

Awesome! It looks really good. I couldn't find the video of you firing it though.;)

Side note. Whats that! It looks pretty!

No videos for now. I have two broken collar bones. Maybe when it heals up. As for the item circled in red, that's my neck knife that doubles as a flint and steel striker. Horshur made me this beautiful neck knife that throws sparks like a dream (notice the burning char cloth). It is 5.125 inches long with a 1.5 inch cutting blade.

Dude, sorry to hear about the broken collar bones......Cough....Cough....Pansy! ;) JK. It looks super awesome even if you cant shoot it till spring because of all the sand in the V.. ;) Sorry! Fully expect it back in the future. Razzing is only out of love.... and borderline jealousy.

Timing of the screws is a big issue often over looked, I have done a lot if work restoring double rifles in my past life and it is the little details that make the whole piece.

Is horahur working professionally or can he or she be persuaded by beer and flattery? I need three fire steals done up for me and the kids. Very impressed with the picture of the ember on the char cloth. Looks like he used a Rasp or Bastard.?.? Nice work and thanks for the picture of the full piece. :) If he or she is willing to take on work, I actually have pictures that I would like to have made.

That jacobean stain on the hickory looks fantastic. And that coming from someone that normally finds stains that pull this far to be muddy and way over the top. But the hickory just seems to make it really work.

The stain really makes the carving details jump too. So double good....

TWO collar bones at once? There's a story there but that's OK. I'll be looking forward to the shooting videos as well. Your handgonne looks DARN fine! ! !

You made me laugh this morning! I hyperlinked Horshur's name so you can contact him about any possible work. It was an old farrier's rasp that he used to make mine. The leatherwork was the first piece ever done by my wife, with scraps that we had around the house. This thing goes everywhere with me. So fun to light fires with it :)

Thanks for the comments. Actually it was my wife that picked out the stain colour for me. She thought it would go with the metal colours better. I think she made a great choice! There is a story about the broken bones ... motorcycle accident.

That sucks! Thankfully you are alive. Thanks for his contact info. I love the traditional tools and fire building. The kids and I have been using the ferro rods for the last year or so and now have that down to as easy as using a lighter. The next step is going to be the fire steel.
