Check out the castboolits forum under single shot rifles. One of the guys there has the Vault Lock as his avatar. A couple guys on the homegunsmith forum have built variations of the Chicopee action.
I have the book. Interesting enough read. Fugly designs, to my eye. Very much designs for someone with some competence, and confidence, workin with metal. Not detailed drawings full of exact dimensions at all.
There are plans out there for a pile of designs. What do you want to build? Lots of folk have used the cross section diagrams from the "Mr. Single Shot's" series of books as the start, keeping in mind that the object is to build parts that fit together, rather than parts that interchange with factory ones.
Saw one fellow's documented build of a Remington Hepburn action, using a cheap Mini-mill as his main tool. Other guys have done some pretty amazing things with files...
Cheers
