Ok so I have this plan of building a dedicated slug gun
What I picked up is an older 870 express magnum that came with the 28 ribbed barrel and a 20 inch rifled barrel.
I have since picked up a mesa tactical stock and 20 inch rail with 6 shell holder
Any true advantages to a rifled barrel?
Can you fire rifled slugs out of said barrel without affecting accuracy or is only good for the non rifled style.
Also will shooting buckshot/birdshot harm the barrel in any fashion? I know it will expand the shot alot faster vs smooth bore
Be nice to know what to expect with a rifled barrel or if I should just find a 18-20 inch smooth bore..
Pro and cons of either
