I am going to bulid a new coyote rig and I am not sure what to go with for calibier. i want one that will reach out to 500yrds. I am thinking a 6mm. eg.243 Improved, 6-06, 6-06 improved, 240 wby. Any help on this would be nice or info on past experience on a great long range dog rifle.

Mine's being built right now... 243 Win AI.

Great brass (Lapua), perfect fit in a Rem 700 SA, and much easier on tubes than the larger 6's.

Not many canines an 85gr TSX can't handle out WELL past the 500yd line!

243 or 25-06 would be two top choices. I've been shooting a 243 this year but havent had much luck in hitting the f**kers past 300 yards  but the half dozen Ive hit inside that have been flat out hammered.

Another good option is the 260 Remington or 6.5-284, launching 95 grain Vmax. My load for the 260 pushes a hair over 3300 fps, and it has a BC of .365. It makes fur clouds and lets red mist drift in the breeze

I shot 34 Coyotes this year and i don't think i won't make 50, but i shot all of them with my 243Win with 105gr A-Max.I never regreted switching to the 243.Super accurate in my 22" barrel even past 500yds.If i were to get another Varmint-target rig,it would be a 243 again with a 1-8 twist. It sure works for me.
