I would suggest to completely disassemble and clean up all the grease from the factory. This includes stripping the frame if you are comfortable with it.
Determine if the slide to frame fit is gritty, clean it up and do a manual racking of the slide to break it in or simply shoot it (after you've cleaned it up).
My comments are based on what I have done with my Norc 1911A1.

Start with the free stuff. Go to the Brownell's website and look in their technical articles section. There's an article about tuning the three finger spring that can gain you a lot of improvement in feel for free other than a little time. That's where I'd start.
Next up would be to massage the trigger bow to eliminate any up/down and side to side play while just barely maintaining enough clearance that it can slide friction free back and forth. Here again totally free to do. You Tube is your friend on this. Use the terms "1911 trigger bow" and "1911 trigger setup" as your search terms.
Other than that go through the whole gun with a Lansky or similar fine knife sharpening stone to take off the razor like edges found throughout these guns. This includes the outside. All the Norcs I've had were sharp enough that it felt like I could shave with them. A little stoning delicately done removes the sharpness. A little cold blue hides the slivery lines. Clean up the sharpness of the edges of the locking lugs in the slide and barrel as well. It aids in letting the barrel lock down consistently and more easily. All this is free other than the cost of a small slip stone. The Lansky white super fine stones mounted on the plastic backing pieces sold for sharpening knives are widely available and quite cheap. What I did was carefully bust them off the plastic. But another option is to slice the plastic down so you can also use the sides of the stones.
To aid in polishing the sear to hammer hooks google "poor man's trigger job" and follow that advice. Again it's free to do but has surprisingly good results.
