Any trouble with ejecting cases hitting the scout mounted scope?

None... and I went buckwild with some rapid fire shooting. There’s good clearance.

Got it off amazon for something like $14 bucks, much better than crappy tire.

lookin good. I only have one question, having built several the same. why didn't you trim the cleaning rod ears off the front site to? gona catch on everything, and would look much nicer cleaned off

what are your top "easy" recommendations for updating an SKS.

Ive got about $350 burning a hole in my pocket. good SKS on EE are going for $250 so that gives me about $100 for upgrades.
I don't want to bubba it but i want my kids (and me) to have fun with it.

I used to have a red dot mounted the same way on my SKS, never had a problem.

buy more ammo - that is most fun upgrade you can get for sks ;]

Might still happen but I plan to trim the cleaning rod and re-thread it. Keeping the lugs on will let my son keep the rod where it’s alwsys been.

Actually the matador rail has a shoot through channel so the front sight can still be used. I plan on making a steel aperture and using the channel as frame to install it. That give my son an accurate backup if his red dot goes down.

Can’t say I’ve put much thought into the specifics yet but finding a simple solution shouldn’t be an issue.

ive tried a few things. nothing really workd well. without the rest of the bayo mount it wont stay and rattles and makes all kindsa noice

ah ok. agreed it is still reversible back to open rear sights
