Built me a 'lil hunting blind this weekend.

just a 'lil blind? that thing is huge.

Have you had much luck hunting deer in the hardwood forests? Here(just north-west of st. sauveur(zone9)) we've had the best luck finding deer in the mixed and soft wood bush, but maybe its different where you ware.

Hate to say it but in a 80 km wind she is gonna get pulled apart by those two trees. I would tink about 'tying' the two trees together.

I've had box stands supported by only trees, and I think the key is to lag bolt it to the trees(not screws) , and use very good quality wood as a frame. Mine have gone through some serious wind with no ill effects. Though I always attach strapping or wire as an added safety in case something gives.

Another strategy is to nail/fasten a short block of wood to each tree under(but not attached to) each supporting cross piece .

The work never ends. You will always want to make improvements to the stand.
The important thing is that now you will have a place to hunt. You also have something much more important than the tree stand or the hunt. You have built lasting memories of being with your dad, and that will stay with you for ever. Good job guys. I wish you luck on your hunt.

Good work. A guy I know went a bit overboard. Results are nice tho...

Looks great!

I doubt it would be that difficult to have a button down fly on the sides that could stop the rain if it was bad. Put some little windows in it and you're set! Plus you could control the wind coming through it and get it nice and warm in the winter.

That is wild I think if there are any critters left in the woods after building that they won't see you or smell you.
Awsome job!!!!
