Hey all,

I just pieced together my first AR lower. I picked up a Aero receiver from Kodiak and then a RRA parts kit. anyways since this is my first im not sure if this problem is just because everything is new, or i messed something up but: it functions fine i took it out to the range and it worked as it was supposed to however the trigger pull was very heavy. It took quite a bit of force to fire the action. Is this something that will work it self out after breaking in?

And for all ya'll who think posting a thread about a recently completed rifle with out pics is worthless, here ya go.

Cut-down bushmaster upper 11.5" bought off a fellow CGN'er
I added: the rail, YHM flip sights, fake-can suppressor, troy rails
Lower:
Aero Precision, A2 stock (had it lying around with no rifle attached to it), CAA grip, ambi safety, RRA parts kit (standard trigger).

planned upgrades: collapsible stock (so it looks like this bottom one..again)
the top one is my norc.

Thanks,
Steve

...did i just hi-jack my own thread in the first post?

When you say very heavy...how would you compare it to any other AR's you have shot? A new LPK will be heavy, but not to the point of needing 2 fingers etc...are we talking like a 6 pound pull "heavy" or a 20 pound pull HEAVY?

I picked up an RRA LPK from Questar earlier this year, I haven't had issues with the trigger. I just tested it with my handy Lyman digital trigger pull gauge, and it reported 5lbs 13oz consistently over 3 tests.

i followed the tutorials exactly and compared it to my other lowers, and the parts are assembled correctly. I'm comparing this trigger pull to my other 2 AR's (dlask, norc) and the C7's.
when i first assembled it, i could pull the trigger and it would fire the action but then the trigger would not fully reset (fixed that problem with a little lube on the trigger pin, works fine now). The overall distance the trigger travels is the about the same, just the amount of force. i dont have a device to measure trigger pull. its not like i need to use two fingers. think of how you squeeze your hand when you make a fist, thats the best comparison i can think of. As for pictures my camera isn't able to get a clear picture.

i unno, maybe i just need to #### and fire it and it will loosen up? or get used to the different trigger..

hmm.. could this type of problem be caused if the hammer spring was too tight? thus putting more pressure on the component holding the hammer in the cocked position, thus more force required to release the hammer?

Your situation doesn't sound normal. Using a trigger over time should help get rid of the "creep" not significantly diminish the trigger pull. There must be something wrong. Without pics it's hard to figure it out.

Give Mark (Questar) a call/mail, he's a RRA dealer, maybe he can help you.

You could have used the wrong spring between the disconnecter and trigger.

It is very close to the bolt catch spring.

Ask me how I know :/

i don't think that's it. they came idiot proof. each part came in separate labeled bags i.e. all parts for bolt catch were in one bag.

I'll just take 'er into the g'smith and have them giver a once over and see if I F&*^%d up.
